I got the call shortly after midnight, Soldier in jail, in Raleigh. As of midnight, I was the new platoon Sergeant. The old Platoon Sergeant hadn’t left, he had just asked not to be the Platoon Sergeant anymore. He was the Commo SGT, he could do that. I was the new guy, I had been pulled from another platoon to be a brand new platoon sergeant. First day on the job, two hours after I took over, New Years Morning, I get the call. I have a Soldier in jail.
I load up the old PSG and we head to Raleigh. We pick him up from the station, no big deal, he had a folder from the judge, a notice to appear, and a black eye.
